Puppies grow into dogs before you know it.
We want each Hycottage Farm puppy to deeply enrich the lives of their human family whether as a working dog, a therapy dog, or a general companion. To reach that potential, we give our puppies a headstart with a dynamic schedule of socialization, desensitization, basic training, and dedicated care. Our puppies are raised in our home as part of the family. By the time they are ready for their forever homes, they will have experienced the daily flurry of activity that is part of being a large family. Noisey life with children will be old news to them as well as the sites, smells, and sounds of cats, dogs, and a variety of other animals around the farm. They will have many opportunities to explore the great outdoors in a puppy safe environment as well as puppy safe field trips and scheduled enrichment and basic training opportunities.

early neurological stimulation
ENS is 5 safe and simple exercises carefully done for 3-5 seconds with each puppy once a day. ENS takes advantage of a narrow window in which controlled stimuli kick start the neurological system resulting in an increased tolerance to stress and enhanced coping skills later in life. These handling exercises are done from day 3 to day 16 after whelping. Read more about our use of Early Neurological Stimulation below.

Puppy enrichment
Our puppy enrichment schedule is a balance of activity, stimulation, rest, and play so that each puppy can learn and adapt without being overwhelmed. We occasionally have a young dog available. Please check with us if you are looking for a young dog. If we don’t have one at the moment we can try to direct you to another breeder that does.
Basic training foundations
Which puppy behavior would you prefer, a puppy who greets you by sitting and making eye contact, or a puppy who jumps, whines, and snags your clothing? Our basic training schedule will lay the foundation for good puppy behavior. These early practice sessions will give you a jump start on the manners training that you will continue with your puppy over the next months.
