Making the choice to add a puppy to your family is a big decision and not one to be taken lightly. We know there are many great Collie breeders for you to choose from and we are honored that you have taken some time to consider our puppies. You may be wondering what the Hycottage Farm Puppy experience is like. What better way to find out than to hear it directly from some of our families, in their own words.

Timber 5 weeks 3 d a.jpg

We adopted Timber, now Axel, puppy number one. I credit Becky Davis and her outstanding family team with our unqualified success in assimilating Axel into our family. From the very beginning, Becky was sensitive to our particular circumstances, especially the need to have our new fellow “fit” with our older female dog, Violet, who is known to be somewhat unsocial. Becky listened carefully to our concerns and requirements. Most remarkable, however, is Becky’s ability to assess her puppy’s personalities and attributes. She was able to recommend a puppy from her litter who is a perfect companion in every way to Violet, a feat that required a great deal of thought and a thorough knowledge of every male puppy in the litter.

In addition to fitting in with Violet, Axel perfectly fulfills every request that Gary and I made for our puppy’s temperament and personality. We had a considerable list to fulfill! I would never have imagined such accurate assessment to be possible, but Becky achieved that for Axel and for us. We feel that Becky has an outstanding understanding of each puppy’s personality, something only accomplished with many hours of observation and interaction with the litter.

The entire Davis family participated in preparing Axel and his littermates for a smooth and successful transition to life in new homes. The family members worked together to expose the litter to sounds and experiences that they would encounter in the larger world, developing puppies with excellent soundness of nerves. And the entire family was able to give us helpful bits of information about various puppies as we worked together to make the best choice of personality for our situation. The family’s puppy-raising methods are well described on their website; I can affirm that their methods are incredibly effective. I have had many dogs and puppies throughout my life, but never one any better prepared to go out into the world.

This story has a very happy ending. Thanks to the Davis family’s efforts, we were able to welcome our new family member, Axel, with a minimum of disturbance of any kind, either for Axel or for our family. Axel is just six months old now and still showing every indication of being the exact fellow that Becky assessed him to be. He is a wonderful addition to our family and we all couldn’t be happier. I am grateful to the entire Davis family for making that possible!

J.A.-

She’s (Winnie) so smart and just brings us so much joy! We took her to the beach with us for Thanksgiving and she had a blast in the sand and chasing waves.

Hi Becky,

Finley is now almost six months old and I wanted to let you know how thankful we are to have him.  From the very beginning of the puppy process to the time we picked Finley up at 10 weeks old you were the epitome of a caring, communicative caretaker!  You nurtured the puppies so lovingly and  gave them the very best start in life possible. We are so grateful to you and your family!

When my husband and I picked Finley up, we picked up a puppy who had been loved dearly and extremely well cared for.  It was a bonus that he was also housebroken!  When Finley goes out and about, he is always the object of admiration of others because he is such a beautiful, friendly dog.  I will add intelligent and loyal to his attributes too.  There are many times that my husband and I express our delight in how well-behaved he is.  In many ways, he has the maturity of a much older dog.  So, Becky (and family) please accept our sincere gratitude for providing us with such a joy in our lives.

Thank you!

Mary Beth and Pat

You should definitely feel proud of these puppies. People comment on how smart, self-possessed and calm Finch is. And I know so much of that comes from the good start you gave him. - We think he’s the most handsome, classic and all-American dog ever.

T.D. - Browny and Griggs are buddies already! Browny is nice to other dogs, but never has wanted another puppy or dog too close to her. She is cool and stoic with other dogs. But she has decided Griggs is different…she seems to really like him. She took him on the rounds checking the flock/property. She would sniff areas and then step back and let him check the area out. They get along so well!

Sassy - Now Annie

V.M. - Thanks, Becky, for raising and giving us our sweet Annie. Can’t believe a year has gone by since I met her and brought her home to Oregon. What a happy and joyful journey it’s been. She’s added so much fun and happiness to our lives. Thank you!

Granite - now Kuzco

Granite - now Kuzco

K.E. -We get our fair share of thunder storms here in Ohio, and we had a pretty nasty one a couple nights ago, but Kuzco was awesome and so calm through it all. Even with the booming thunders that shook the house, the most Kuzco did was look up from chewing a toy on the floor by us. I think it's clear we have Becky to thank for helping us have such a wonderful pup!
Here are some photos of him looking all handsome and grown up! He has a favorite spot in the car (and really struggled to get up there now that he's so big!) and one of his favorite toys is a burger. He's from the 2019 Willow litter and is almost 8 months old at around 50lbs.

Loma

Loma

W.M. - Thanks to Becky Davis's extraordinary puppy training, our Loma passed her first mega test, yesterday. July 4 included: neighborhood kids popping off fireworks in the distance while we were on walk, a bad, late afternoon thunderstorm followed by more fireworks late into the evening. Loma showed no anxiety whatsoever. Our late rough-coat collie would go berserk with the sound of either. Thank you Becky for your desensitizing recordings. They worked for Loma. I hope her litter mates also had good experiences on the 4th.

Cayden - Now Finnegan

Cayden - Now Finnegan

M.T. - Finnegan is such a great guy! We adore him, so thank you so much for making great collies! Rosie takes very good care of him. And by the way, he has been the easiest dog we’ve ever had! One potty accident at the very beginning. ONE!
