About
Welcome to Hycottage Farm Collies! I am happy you have an interest in learning more about Scottish Collies. As you explore the website, I hope you will find a deep well of information about the history of the breed, their temperament, training considerations, and enjoy all the fun puppy pictures.
Since childhood my heart has been tied to the companionship of a collie. From the time I was three I have almost always had a collie in my life. Their loyalty and intuitive nature are endearing traits that make it easy to bond with and easy to live with.
I grew up raising and showing livestock in 4-H and there was usually a collie or two tagine along. I spent many hours with my brother, helping on my Grandfather's dairy farm and raising and training horses. I learned so much about commitment, dedication, and the values of strong relationships through those experiences. I wanted my children to grow up with the same opportunities to enjoy God's amazing creation that I had. For several years we were blessed to have a farmstead and the kids and I worked together to garden, raise rabbits, chickens, goats, horses, Brown Swiss cows, and some beef calves, with our Hycottage collies beside us along that part of our journey.
Through our time volunteering as a Guardian Home for breeder dogs with 4 Paws for Ability, we have grown a passion for therapy and service animals as well. Scottish Collies fit so well with our pursuit of farming and our desire to raise dogs that have the versatility to also serve in a therapy role. Although our path has changed and we no longer live on our farmstead, we still have a passion for collies and are thankful for the impact they have in the lives of so many families who have adopted a Hycottage Farm Puppy.
Thank you for stopping by. We hope our website fuels your desire to learn more about this wonderful breed!
